Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Pickering really need another
church?
A: According to research released for the DAWN Project (Discipling A
Whole Nation), Pickering is the second most needy city, town or
village in all of Ontario when considering the number of evangelical
churches per capita. If every church in the city was filled to
capacity each Sunday, there would be room for less than 10% of our
population. Not only are more churches needed, but churches with a
greater variety of expression are needed in our city as well. The
Sanctuary-Pickering is helping to address both of these issues.
Q: What are the Terms & Conditions for
Ignition Sports Camp?
A: We work hard to make sure we provide a fun and safe experience
for children at the best price possible. Experience has shown that
even with the best of intentions, misunderstandings can occur. In an
attempt to reduce the likelihood of misunderstandings we provide the
following terms and conditions:
- Safety comes first. Your cooperation with our safety procedures is a foundational requirement.
- Timeliness is essential. For the best experience of the children and smoothest operation of the camp, please drop off and pick up your children at the designated time. Before and after care is available, but only for those who arrange it in advance. You will be charged a fee for bringing your children early or arriving late for pickup.
- Pre-registration is required to attend any of Ignition's eight camp sessions. All registration fees are non-refundable. Your child's spot is only confirmed once payment is received. Online payment via PayPal/Credit Card will secure your spot right away. If you need to pay by cash or cheque, you will have to register in person. Please call 905.231.3269 to arrange for a time to register in person.
- Being an outdoor sports camp, weather is a concern. We do provide tents to shelter the children from light rain, but if the rain is heavy and prolonged or in the event of lightning and thunder, camp will have to be canceled. We will give you as much notice of cancellation as possible. However, since we have no control over it, we will not provide refunds for camp time lost due to inclement weather.
- While our staff is trained and experienced in dealing with children, sometimes a child's behaviour is not conducive to a safe and productive experience for other children. In this event we will make every possible effort to work with the child but it may become necessary to inform the child's parent of repeated incidents of distracting or uncooperative behaviour. If the child does not display improvement after this step, we reserve the right to refuse admittance to the child for the rest of the week. No refund will be provided.
- In addition to our sports program this year, each day will also feature a 20-30 minute lesson where you children will learn character building qualities. The topics for these lessons mirror the character qualities that children have been learning in local public schools. The specific lesson topics for each week will be provided on Monday mornings. At the end of each day, there will also be an optional follow-up lesson for any children who are interested in hearing more about these qualities form a Christian perspective.
These Terms & Conditions are subject to change without prior notice.
